Panchakarma, which
in Sanskrit stands for five therapeutic actions, is a
cleansing and rejuvenating program for body, mind and
consciousness. Although the therapeutic measures may
appear quite simple, its effects are extremely powerful to
the point that Ayurveda considers it necessary before the
beginning of any other therapy. The logic behind this is
that the body needs to be cleansed from all impurities
before being exposed to a rejuvenation program, just as
you would do with any garment before dying it with a new
color or a piece of furniture before being polished.
Panchakarma, is meant to purify the whole body by
eliminating the accumulated toxins from it. It is also
believed to have a rejuvenating effect when it is subject
to a healthy person.
Panchakarma is comprised of five advanced treatments and can be considered
as a body detoxification program. The five forms of
Panchakarma are: Two types of Basti (medicated enemas),
Virechana (purging through herbs), Vamana (emesis through
herbs), and Nasya (nasal administration of oils). Another
traditional school includes Rakta Moksha (blood letting)
as part of the five procedures.
Panchakarma is always performed in three stages: Purva
Karma (pre-treatment), Pradhana Karma (primary treatment)
and Paschat Karma (post-treatment). The patient who opts
for any one of the five therapies must invariably undergo
all three stages.
Panchakarma is a unique, natural,
holistic treatment that cleanses the body’s deep tissues
of toxins, opens the subtle channels, and brings energy
thereby increasing vitality, inner peace, confidence and
well-being.
It is recommended on a seasonal basis, as well as when an
individual feels out of balance or is experiencing
illness. Rates vary depending on number of days, number of
therapists, etc. Please call 786-443-6213 or
